Going to Field Test the ATOM broadhead |

Arrow Dynamic Solutions is sending me some Atom Broadheads to field test. I should have them late this week and will give a Review on them. I also will try to
get some pics of the "damage" if I shoot a doe this month when I get back up North.

what about practicing with this broadhead, does it pull easily out of the target? Do you leave the razor wires on the broadhead while practicing with it and
how do they get dull from using them?

You can practice with them...but upon pulling them backwards thru foam...allow the blades to rotate as it cuts a spiral channel when penetrating...
Once you've taken even just one or two shots....you'll quickly see there is ZERO difference to point of impact with your field tips...from then on...just practice with field points, hunt with the Atom. As for the "Edge"....it has a specific grind angle that allows safety in handling..yet extreme durability. Typically you'll break it before it needs "Sharpening". My personal best number of animals shot is two hogs and four doe with the same braodhead/same two wires. However, you can "Re-Sharpen" them if you want using a fine diamond grit stone/arkansas stone and a bit of oil..a Lansky style sharpening system is by far the best to gain and maintain a keen edge on any metal...including our razor wire. |

What about a pass thru? Do the wires stay on and what about when they hit bone? Just asking mainly about pass thru

The ends of the wire are held in place via spring force...they are free to move/be dislodged upon experiencing lateral loads or significant compression loads,
meaning assisting to minimize deflection and penetrate bone better than any other fixed/mech head. Many times you'll find your broadhead after passing
thru an animal and hitting the ground where one or both wires have come out of the slots at the base but remain swinging within the upper holes thru the top of
the broadhead body. Even if they come out during penetration...they still continue to cut. This is supposed to happen based off facts garnered from fixed/mech
heads that resulted in lack of penetration....flexibility allows significantly greater depth of penetration.
