Have you been out ice fishing yet?
What have you caught?
I have been out 4 times. I caught 11 perch. The biggest was a personal best @ 12". (last week)
This week I caught a 15" walleye and was lucky in reeling in a 25" pike. Lucky because he hit my walleye rig w/o a steel leader.
The condition of the lake is another story. Although there is 9" of clear ice it is under 10 inches of snow. I have found alot of water/slush. I was told
that when the lake ice cracks the weight of the snow is forcing the water up on top. First experience with this situation. It made the 4-wheeler ride exciting
(scary) I do say.

I have been out by Gino's surf for the past 3 Monday's and have done ok....Just got back in today with a cpl of 12 inch perch...some gills, saw alot of
LG mouth, but everything is moving slow. NOT much going on at metro park, or end of cotton rd in chesterfield. Salt river is kinda slow from what I have
heard. Sleds have been good out by Gino's 8-10 inch snow makes it a great time when the fish are not moving or biting. Set a cpl of tip-ups with
chubs..but no luck....Wigglers have worked very well..

Went out yesterday by selfridge slow day only caught a few 5 to 8 inchers on wigglers

I went out Friday and Saturday afternoon/evening. I saw 9 walleye in the 2 days. I landed a 17 " & missed another. They just dont all bite. I had 3
swim up to check out the pike spearing sucker. That was pretty cool. At least I am seeing fish.
The ice is 9" thick. Despite this there are wet slushy spots under the snow. This is a bit scary when riding a quad towing gear. |

I went out again this weekend. The perch were biting again. I caught 15 of the biggest ones. The smallies were also present. Friends and I caught 3. Being out
of season they were all returned to the lake. The walleyes were not biting despite the beautiful full moon. There were no pike seen. Better luck this week.
