I found this link http://www.shadowhunterllc.com
that had some info on builiding elevated blinds and shooting windows. Have any of you ever built an elevated blind and what did you use. 4 X 4 poles and did
you use 2 X 4's and 2 X 6's? How did you do your windows?

I built this one a few years ago and it's holding up OK.
I used lumber I had on hand or could scavenge. It is lag bolted to 8 inch posts sunk 5 feet in the ground so the wind won't tip it over. The windows hinge up but usually keep them closed when it's cold. I will probably go to sliding windows on the next build. Nothing fancy but it keeps me out of the elements. |

We have 2 tower stands on our property. Both have 3 windows{side windows}10 inch by 32 long and then the front 16 x18. Ours are consructed with 4x4's
and are 2x2's for wall's and roof.. 5 years now, no leaks or holes..Still great stand's there 14 ft to The bottom and don't really move when
the Wind blows But we do have them tied down with cable's that are strapped on the legs to the ground.. I live to hunt!!! |

here are some pics of the tower blind we built at troy's. it is built on 4x4 post's sunk in the ground 2-3 ft, depending on the tree roots. the floor
is 2x6's, walls are 2x4's, the roof is about 8 inches taller in front so that the rain all runs off the back. this is a solid stand, no rocking in
the wind. we experimented with both sliding and hinged windows.

Those are all nice stands.
One thing I noticed is that on the one with the ladder stand going to it, I don't like the way the ladder stand has all its weight on that 1 inch lip. If it shifts when your climbing up, your gonna tumble to the ground. I would put a couple of straps or cable ties around the top and fasten it thru the floor and round the 2x6 for safety. |
