Had an opportunity to fish a bit on Hubbard Lake over the holiday. One spot on the south end near the old marina was very productive for a species that I am
not very familiar with. I have seen others catch Gar Pike in Lake St. Clair and have seen only a couple of wild ones in my lifetime. It really is a
"Jurassic Park" looking kind of fish. We had several on the line and some seemed to fight like you would expect a Northern Pike to fight like
(rolling, diving under the boat etc) and some just seemed to give up once they were near the boat. Is this typical behavior of this species? Early morning and
late evening Bass were also very productive.
