Has anyone fished Tawas Lake ? We used to fish for gills and perch ,till DNR poisoned the lake to plant trout . Over 35 yrs ago. So what kind of fish is in the lake now ? Or did the DNR screw up again , and messed up a good fishing lake.

I have fished Tawas Lake a couple times in the last year and it is loaded with big gills again, also has some perch, crappie, nice bass and quite a few pike.

Good Fishing, I have a 9.9 shortshank on a 14ft boat that navigates well in that shallow lake. Usually fish it 2 or 3 times a year and catch some BIG Gills and nice largemouths. Very early in the morning is productive.

Has anyone tried fishing it in the winter ? We are heading up to Grayling in a couple of weeks , any may make a side trip.
