In Michigan we could use MORE predators to help shrink the excess deer population. Not having enough predators for the deer is one of the reasons for the excess population, along with the shooting of too many young bucks and not harvesting enough does. Just my 2 cents. |

I'm sure if you could find a pheasant or a quail to talk to they would agree 100% that there needs to be more predators. Not enough.....WTF!?

We are the apex predators. It is up to us to control the population of the deer herd through sound game managment. A scientific study was done in Michigan
where stomach contents of coyotes were examined, and it was mostly comprised of small birds and rodents. Not to say that some deer are not killed by coyotes,
but I think it probably a small percentage, most likely fawns and weakened, sick, or old deer. a heathly adult deer is a tough kill for a 25 to 35lb coyote,
