Man that soil looks awfull sandy. Has it produced any good crops in the last few years? It looks like it needs some organic matter added to it
like Rye. When did you plant ? Nice plot though!! Have you taken any deer off of it? I know my plots are really starting to get used in the last few weeks by the fawns and does. You almost need a cross walk on the dirt road for the foot traffic. Looks good and post some more pictures at the end of the month to let us see the progress, ok.

Where the corn is now had winter wheat last year and we tilled it in this spring, I got an 8 point and a fat doe right there where the corn is last fall. The
big section of beans in the white sand is where there was corn last year and it was pretty stunted, hoping the beans do better.. The close shot of beans is
where last year the corn grew over our heads and the deer and other critters ate every kernal. This is only the second year for trying to plant crops on
these plots, was just weeds before that.

Actually the soil on this property is as Dark and BLACK as coffee grounds. This is just an opening behind a big pond where the sand was leveled after it was
dug. The beans right here actually look better in person and I think they will fill out nicely. You are right though the soil is not much for nutrients and
will take years to correct. We have 2 other plots of beans in better soil and I think it will be over our Knee's shortly. The corn was planted in OK
soil and I bet it gets 7-8 ft tall....alot of it is already at our knee's. Only had room to do 6-8 rows wide and is about a 1/2 mile long. Last year the
racoon's knocked alot of the corn down. Going to keep the coon population in check and have a few solutions already started.
Probably to no avail though.....I will be lucky to have corn in October still
standing and I will take pic's to see the progress and destruction at the end.
I really think the beans will thrive and do well and will take pics of all 3 plots. The Outfitter's Choice clover is doing well and the deer are on it morning, day and afternoon. CLOVER everywhere around the smallest pond closest to the cabin and about 1.5 acres of clover field behind cabin. Will get some good pics in 2 weeks. |

Now is a good time to buy a camera, the prices are down from what they used to be. Sony are top rated but any thing by Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Panasonic, Olympus
are good.
Keep in mind that the more Meg's the less amount of pics you can get on your chip. You can also get a digital camera that uses AA batteries and then you can use re-charagble AA's. Something like a Canon PowerShot A530, 7.1 meg - would be good. Its a little larger and easier to hold and use the controls. I found that in lending cameras to people they took better pictures with the Canon than with the small card deck sized Olympus that they dropped and had fingers in front of the flash... If you get a AA bat. camera.. keep extra fresh batteries with you. |

The 4 to 6 rows of corn continues about a 1/2 mile or more down a winding road through property...
