I am a trapper and i used to have coon dogs. Can anyone tell me why it is ok to shoot coon from a tree starting Oct. 1 but have to wait to trap them until
Nov. 1. I am not saying one is better than the other, i used to love them both. I just don't understand why i have to let them go out of my fox sets so it
can be shot out of the tree the next night. To me the end result is the same...a big smile on my face and fur in the freezer.

You have to be 50 feet away from any water. As for the price of furs, I have no idea. I am laid off right now so after i get the dishes, laundry and cleaning
done i trap just to remind myself that i am a man and it is ok to stand up and pee. The coon that are caught in my fox sets...they growl at me and i see that
as them about to do damage.

If you are on private property, the guide says you can shoot any coon doing, or about to do damage. The way I see it is that coon in your "fox" trap
is doing damage to the fox set, so I would shoot it!! Do they still have the law that says you can't set a coon trap within 100 ft distance of a waterway until muskrat and mink season is open? I
hated that law because it made it hard to legally set traps where they are most effective, along creeks and rivers. I haven't trapped in a few years ,are
the hides worth anything anymore?
