Leave one side of it about 4 feet deep.. going out 6 feet as a ledge for the sun to grow weeds.. these will feed bugs, ect.. to feed the minnows, ect. that will feed the fish. So after the water settles a bit.. and the weeds begin to grow and bugs ect.. you should add some minnows, salamanders, frogs, crayfish..
you have to establish a food chain before you add the fish. then you could add a few perch, bluegills and crappies. After they establish, add a few largemouth bass or pike to control them. 1. Any thing special I should understand about building ponds?
   
2. What should I expect to spend, roughly?
   
3. Dirt can stay on site, or I will give the dirt away. I will use about 100 yards myself for fill not even a scratch.
