I got my buck in the U.P. at our Deer camp in Ontanogon County. We hunt on National Forest Reserve, so it is public land. I was reading a magazine about flintlock muzzleloaders had 2 deer at the feeding station, a doe and a small button buck, every now and than I would look up and see what my 2 pets were doing. All of a sudden they took off, I didnt think much of it because the doe was very nervous and they had done the same thing the day before. I kept reading and watching about 5 mintues after they took off I see a deer trotting in, saw the rack and proceeded to throw my magazine on the floor, yank the window out of the blind, and shove the rifle out the window, this is a matter of 5-7 seconds. He was broadside to start with, when I got the crosshairs on him the saftey came off and I sent a Dr. Doug's 110gr pain pill his way. I went out yesterday in the afternoon and got into my stand early for the day about 2:00. I wasn't there no longer than 20 minutes when here comes this large Doe and older spike we have been watching for months running threw, I got them to stop finally at about 45 yards. I put my sight right on his shoulder and spined him. How I spinned him is beyond me, But here I got this wounded deer in front of me doing the death growl, I thought, so I went to finish him and realized I didn't bring any more bullets with me. I brought my 20 gauge single shot because were I sit I don't have further than a 50 yard shot and must of left my bullets back at the car. This buck saved the life of a doe, I already had the saftey off and was ready to take a doe when she jerked and jumped out of my sight picture so i looked to the right where she was looking and here stood this buck, slightly angled away and faceing the doe, i did a quick point count got eight and fired. The shot went thru his shoulder and came out at the base of his neck, he stumbled forward then ran sideways for 30 yards and piled up. 50 cal winchester muzzy does the trick again!!image
