I just got Back from Iowa. I took a buck Saturday that should gross around 140. I passed several 130 to 140 class bucks early and seen a lot of deer. I shot a
140+ buck a few days ago and did not recover it searched for it for a few days then finally gave up and got back in the saddle and shot this one. I had my
hopes on two bucks and held out for one of them till towards the end of the week. One was a giant fatso that would of dressed near 300 pounds. and the other
was a massive 7 point. I got good video of the buck I shot, but I hit him a little back ( liver ) so I waited over night to track. 2 hour track job and I found
him dead bedded in a river. Here he is right where I found him. <img...

Ive hunted all mentioned with the exception of Ohio or Canada... Iowa seems to be the best destination. Illinois can be good too, but access is hard, and the
Outfitters rape the land. Of those states I feel Iowa has the easiest access to private... Never had a problem getting permission on private farms. It also has
great public. Illinois has good public too, but access to private usually means getting your wallet out. Kansas is simaler in that respect except I feel its
easier to get big bucks on the public in Kansas and there is less competition.

Let me know how the hunt goes. I was thinking of taking an out of state trip sometimes. Its a shame that we don't practive QDM here, they do in Jackson
County and you always see them getting big deer. Ohio has been getting a lot of monsters too. There was an empty parcle of land by 12 mile and mound road in
Warren, that was excess land from the GM tech center since 1950. It was developed a few years ago, although there is still some woods. There used to be wild
deer on there, and since it was in the city there was no hunting and no trespassing GM land those bucks were monsters 160-200 class. GM with the premission
from the DNR had a company trap them and send them to a High Fenced Hunt camp called The Scantuary in the UP where people can shoot them for like 15,000
dollars. What a shame.

I have been To Illinois and saw alot of bucks that would be "shooter's" around here in Mi. I am going this year for the 2nd gun hunt Dec 4th-7th
and will be using my muzzleloader. The reason these BIG BUCK states such as Illinois have big bucks is because there firearm season is only 3 days long and can
only use a shotgun. The 2nd gun season is 4 days long and can use shotgun or Muzzleloader and the 3rd gun season is 3 days long and is muzzleloader only. This
is a total of 10 days and is spread out in a months time with a break in between. Not alot of time to shoot all of the bucks in the woods and Illinois for the
most part practice "QDM" and shoot the older bucks because there are a ton of them available.
