			<description><![CDATA[ Python hunting season starts next month in Florida.&nbsp; Anybody going?<br><br>
<p>The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Monday announced a special hunting season targeting Burmese pythons on state lands in South Florida March 8 through April 17. </p>
<p>The special season, created by executive order, will allow anyone with a hunting license and a $26 management area permit to take reptiles of concern — including Indian python; reticulated python; northern and southern African rock python; amethystine or scrub python; green anaconda; and Nile monitor lizard. Hunters may use rifles, pistols or shotguns, but no centerfire rifles. They may not bring reptiles out alive and must report all they kill to the FWC within 36 hours.</p>
<p>FWC official Chuck Collins said government isn't always the best solution to stopping the spread of invasive, exotic species. </p>

			<description><![CDATA[ I have 80 acres in grayling area had a perfect 8pt drop a complete set of antlers only 10ft apart&nbsp; december 12th&nbsp; then found 3 other antlers and witness other bucks with dropped antlers as of dec 27th&nbsp;&nbsp; then last weekend feb 14th witnessed a big 4pt 12-14 inch spread and 12 inches tall&nbsp; with a full set still intact no injuries at all&nbsp; this buck was watched all summer through growing season&nbsp; and spared many times while in the field&nbsp;&nbsp; ]]></description>

(Click to enlarge)<br>DAYTON, OHIO – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife announced that another record setting deer has been harvested in southwestern Ohio. On Saturday, January 30, 2010, the 18-point nontypical (nonsymmetrical antlered) deer taken by Brian Stephens on November 30, 2009 with a muzzleloader in Highland County was officially scored. <br><br>Brian Stephens with friends and family by his side excitedly awaited the official score Saturday morning in Xenia. The buck was scored by Mike Wendel, David Haney and Ron Perrine; certified scorers with Buckeye Big Bucks Club (BBBC). Gary Trent, BBBC President, announced the score as 232 5/8 certifying it as the new state record. 			<description><![CDATA[ DNRE seeks public's help in search for evidence of wolves in northern Lower Peninsula<br><br>By LaNia Coleman | The Bay City Times <br>February 11, 2010, 8:55PM<br><br>The Department of Natural Resources and Environment on Tuesday will begin surveying for gray wolves in the northern Lower Peninsula.<br><br>The survey will continue through Friday, March 12.<br><br>Survey teams will search areas where they have receive reports of wolf sightings or wolf tracks.<br><br>“The purpose of the survey is to both verify the presence of wolves where we have previously confirmed animals and to detect new occurrences in other areas,” said DNRE Wildlife Biologist Jennifer Kleitch. <br><br>“Given the low probability of observing a wolf or tracks in the Lower Peninsula, it’s helpful to have as many eyes looking as possible. <p itxtvisited="1">LANSING, Mich. (AP)- State officials say chronic wasting disease has not turned up in Michigan since one infected deer was discovered in 2008.</p>
<p itxtvisited="1">The fatal illness was detected in a white-tailed deer at a private captive breeding farm in Kent County. Authorities responded with mandatory testing of deer killed in nine townships surrounding the farm, and some elsewhere. </p>
<p itxtvisited="1">Steve Schmitt, veterinarian for the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, said Thursday that 1,134 deer were tested in 2009. </p>
<p itxtvisited="1">None had positive readings. But Schmitt says the testing will continue because the disease always requires vigilance. </p>
